New sewing craft

After going skiing with my family, I realized that my children needed neck warmers to keep their neck and cheeks warm.  When I saw the price of them in the store, I thought "I can make these cheaper than what the store is charging".  I also made matching headbands.  The purple pattern also has matching headbands/neckwarmers for dolls.
Here is what I created...

Sentimental Cozy Mitts

I have been busy the past several days creating some very special pairs of Cozy Mitts.
A friend of mine gave me an Irish sweater that her mother use to wear (her mother passed away a few years ago).  She asked if I could make a few pairs of mittens for her and her 3 sisters using her mother's Irish sweater.
She asked that the outer part of each mitten be from her mother's sweater and the palm sections of the mittens be made out of black sweaters.
After finding a few black sweaters, I started on my task.  My friend asked me to make as many pairs as I can.  She was hoping to get at least 3 pairs of mittens.  Well, I was able to make 7 pairs of mittens!!  Each one is a little different from the other, but they are all tan and black.  I am very excited to show the mittens to my friend.
I am so happy that now my friend and her family will all be able to wear a piece of clothing that was near and dear to their mother!
Happy Hearts for sure!!

Happy Monday!

With the snow building up and the temperatures dropping, more and more people are in need of warm mittens.  I enjoyed shopping this past weekend with my mom in search of new and interesting wool sweaters.  These are mittens that I made last week.

We will see what I will make this week from the newly purchased sweaters...

Busy day!

Just when I think I have a good inventory of mittens...I sell 13 pairs.  Wow, what a day!  The positive feedback that I receive from people who see and try on my Cozy Mitts is overwhelming.
Back to the sewing machine.
Enjoy the snow!

My last batch for awhile

I have been cutting and sewing for 3 days now.  I need a break!  Here are the latest Cozy Mitts...

A cute quote!

This is a quote that one of my nieces said on the day I gave her a pair of "Cozy Mitts".  She put them on her hands and said...

"I have not worn mittens in my adult life and I just don't want to take these off!"

So sweet!  Thanks Em!

New Additions

Here are a few more pairs of "Cozy Mitts" that I just finished.  It is easier for me to sew (and type) while my little ones are asleep.  Sweet Dreams!

Traveling Mittens

Happy Friday!!
This morning I decided to figure out how many states my mittens are in right now.  As of today, my mittens are worn in 12 different states (there may be more that I don't know of).

Here is the list:
Michigan (of course)
Ohio
Illinois
West Virginia
New York
Pennsylvania
Virginia
Nebraska
South Carolina
Florida (yes...it has been cold down there)
Connecticut
New Jersey
I would love see a pair of Cozy Mitts worn in every state (depending on the weather in that  state).  Although I don't foresee anyone in Hawaii needing a pair of fleece-lined wool mittens.  Maybe one day Cozy Mitts will also be internationally known!  We will see...

A different logo

My brother just sent me this tag to be sewn on my Cozy Mitts.  He designed it himself.  Cool...eh?

A Much Needed Break!

I am taking a break from sewing today.  I think my sewing machine is getting mad at me.  So, "Colby's Sweat Shop" (aka: the dining room table) is closed today!  If you live near me, enjoy the newly fallen snow.
Have a great day!
